the parable

Matthew 25 parable.
A Mini Study

The lamps are our bodies.
The oil is the holy Spirit.
These 10 virgins represent people who claim to be or think they are Christians. The unsaved or heathen have no desire to be associated with Christ.

We are ALL conceived and born with the holy Spirit in our souls, it is what gives life (Psalms 139 & John 1:9 That was the true Light, which lights every man that comes into the world), and it can be said that when we ALL sin for the first time with knowledge, we lose that holy spirit and our lamps 'go out'. This happens to EVERYONE. The holy Spirit leaves us and God starts drawing us to the cross.

The holy spirit CANNOT BE LOST once we are born again of the spirit into God's family, our souls are SEALED until the day of redemption (Ephesians 1:13,14 & 4:30), we are NEW creatures/creations in Christ born of God's word and gospel which is an incorruptible SEED (I John 3:9.)

There is no such thing as 'extra oil' or 'running out of oil'. These 2 phrases are often seen when trying to understand what Matthew 25 is speaking about. There are a LOT of false doctrines in the church about this parable, and the issue of this 'oil' is one of the most misunderstood parts of this.

We are all given the SAME MEASURE of the Holy Spirit when we accept the gospel and Christ as our Saviour (John 20:21,22). Jesus did NOT give Peter more of the Holy Spirit than He gave to James or John or any of us. It only takes a drop of this stuff to become a RIVER we often see in the word, so the amount given is NOT AN ISSUE. In Luke 16 we see the rich man wanting just a drop of water to cool his tongue (which he was gnashing.) IF he had a drop of the holy spirit (pictured in the bible as oil and/or water) his soul and tongue would not be in HELL, but in Abarhams bosom.

HAVING SOME OR NOT HAVING SOME is the issue brethren, and once you have received the Lord you will never thirst again...
